Life Passages

St. John is the place where many of your most significant passages in life will happen. It is a sacred space surrounded by unique stained glass windows. The architecture proclaims God's presence. Upon entry the worries of this world dissipate and God's Spirit descends.

Baptism is God's proclamation of God's unconditional love. At St. John we baptize infants, children, and adults of all ages. In the waters of baptism we do not say yes to God, God says yes to us. Yes, God loves you. Yes, God forgives you. Yes, you are God's chosen. Yes, you are God's child. Do not hesitate to contact our office if you are interested or have questions about baptism.

Marriage is a gift of God, intended for the joy and mutual strength of those who enter it and for the well-being of the whole human family. God created us male and female and blessed humankind with the gifts of companionship, the capacity to love, and the care and nurture of children. Jesus affirmed the covenant of marriage and revealed God's own self-giving love on the cross. The Holy Spirit helps those who are united in marriage to be living signs of God's grace, love and faithfulness. (From Evangelical Lutheran Worship, page 286)

This is your day! We will work with you to build a wedding service that is uniquely yours. If you are interested in getting married at St. John, or having Pastor Scott officiate your offsite ceremony, the process can be started by sending him an email.

Once a date has been confirmed, the couple will meet with Pastor Scott 2-3 times for pre-marital conversation. Our Wedding Coordinator and Pastor Scott will work with you to ensure a smooth and joyful ceremony.

Costs

• Building Use: For most St. John weddings, no set cost is determined. It is recommended that all couples make a donation to St. John for use of the facility. The rental fee is $350 for couples who are looking only to rent the space and do not require a Pastor or musician.
• Pastor: $300-$500 (range dictated by travel, appointments, pre-marital counseling, rehearsal and date specifics)
• Wedding Coordinator: $75
• Accompanist: $200
• Aisle Candles: $30
• Bulletins: Our office is available to produce and print wedding programs. The cost depends on paper and quantity.
• Vocalist, Instrumentalists: We have a wide variety of musicians available. Rates are variable.

Once you have booked and planned your ceremony, and prior to your final meeting with Pastor Scott you will need to complete this form.

At St. John, funeral services are better described as a celebration of life. We ask a few simple questions and build a unique and personal ceremony for everyone. Some of the questions we consider are: How do you want to see your loved one remembered? What does God want us to remember now?
